1. How can I own a minute?

Easily! Once you register (fill in a simple form and confirm by email) then we'll give you 15 free credits! You can use this to 'buy' any minute that is still available. After that if you want more time, then we'll give you a free credit everytime you tell someone about WhoseTime? using the form provided.

2. Are there limits on file sizes or types for image uploads?

To avoid lengthy uploads of images, we restrict the image size to 800KB. If you have an image that is bigger than this, simply use software that is most likely already installed on your system such as Microsoft Paint to scale down the image.

3. How do I find if a minute is still available?

There are a number of ways, but the simplest is to select the date and time in the date selection control in the top right hand corner of any page on whosetime.com. If the date and time is still available, then we'll tell you. A few more clicks and it's yours!

4. How does a minute get to be a Top Minute on the front page?

Quite simply really ... all members of the WhoseTime? community (registered users) can vote for any minute. The minutes with the most votes get displayed on the front page.

We've added in some categories e.g. sport and within those categories some subcategories e.g. soccer. This means that your minute might get to be the top minute of all time, or the top soccer moment.

The real trick is to be creative, and make your minute appealing to others, then the votes will come...

5. How do I vote for a minute?

Once logged in, you can click on the "vote" link displayed against each minute. Your vote will be recorded in the total for that minute, and other members will be able to see that you voted for that minute.

To make it fair, you can only vote once for each minute. At any time, you can remove your vote by returning back to that minute and pressing the "remove vote" link.

6. How can I comment on a minute?

Members of whosetime.com can add comments to any minute. There are no limits to the number of comments you can add, but beware once added you can't delete them!

Go to the detail view of a minute (by pressing the title link) and add the bottom of the page, there is a place to add comments.

7. What is a Tag?

Oh my God, did someone really ask this? Only joking guys, it's a perfectly good question. Tags are used to add keywords to a minute so that other people can find them easily. For example, if you add a minute about Elvis, then adding Elvis as a tag for that minute makes it more likely that other people will find your minute and vote for it!

On the front page, a selection of tags for minutes with the most votes are shown. The size of tag indicates the relative number of votes it's received.

8. How do I block a user's minutes?

Some people (we're watching you) may think it's clever to break WhoseTime? contribution rules and post something that is inappropriate. Our policy is to set out some clear rules, and then to allow the WhoseTime? community to self-regulate the site. Therefore we decided to let you guys block a minute if you think it's inappropriate.

Next to each minute is a [may offend] link that allows you to request other people's minutes to be blocked. Once 20 people have done this, the minute will not be shown on the WhoseTime? Website. If you've accidentally marked a minute as offensive, you can undo it by pressing the [not offensive] link.

9. What if I forget my password?

Soooo many passwords ... If you do forget your whosetime one, then just go the login page and press "forgot password?" link. We'll reset it and send the new password in an email to you.

10. How do I change my password?

- go to your account page (choose my time from menu, or click on your avatar)

- press change your password link

- type in your current and new password

- you're done!

11. Can I give a minute to someone?

Of course, and what a lovely present that makes... Each of the minutes you own has a "give away" link which allows you to specify your friend's email address and include a message. Once your friend has received and processed the email then the minute will change from "pending" on your account to "owned by" on your friend's account.

By the way, we didn't put in anything fancy in this first release for trading time, but this give away function is also a reasonable way to give someone a minute that they just paid thousands of dollars for on eBay ... time is money, and all that ;).

12. How do I receive a gift minute?

If someone sends you a minute, then you will receive an email containing a code. Simply copy this code into the "receive given minute" option in your account page, and then the minute is yours!

13. Can I display my minute on another website?

We call this snippet of WhoseTime? a TickTock. Just follow the simple instructions on the "got ticktock?" link shown for each minute.

14. How can I see the most recently added minute?

These are shown on the front page.

15. How can I see the last minute voted for?

These are shown on the front page.

16. How can I tell a friend about WhoseTime?

You can tell a friend about a certain minute using the link shown for that minute. Simply fill in the friends name and email address, and add a message if you want to, and then we'll send an email with a link to that minute.

If you just want to tell a friend about the site in general, then you can use the link at the bottom of each page, or just call them, write them a letter, or put a message in a bottle and cast it out to ... OK that's enough!
